Java vs Bedrock Ore Generation
The same Y rules apply on both editions, but ore placement uses different noise on Java and Bedrock. Always pick the correct edition in the tool before you search — coordinates predicted for Java won’t match a Bedrock world, and vice versa.
Ore Mining Tips
Get more ore per hour.
- Strip-mine at the peak Y for your target ore.
- Dig branch tunnels every 3 blocks to expose the most stone.
- Carry a water bucket — lava lakes start appearing around Y-50.
- Pre-plot your route with the finder and skip empty chunks.
Ore Finder FAQ
Everything miners ask us.
Which ores can the finder locate?
Diamond, ancient debris, gold, iron, copper, emerald, redstone, lapis lazuli and coal. Choose any of the 9 from the ore dropdown — Diamond is selected by default.
What is the best Y-level for diamonds?
Y-59 is the peak on both Java and Bedrock. Diamonds spawn from Y-58 to Y-54, with the richest veins at Y-59.
Where is ancient debris found?
Ancient debris generates at Y14–16 in the Nether. It never spawns exposed to air, so you’ll need to mine through netherrack to reach it.
Does the ore finder work on Bedrock?
Yes. Select the Bedrock edition before you search. The same Y rules apply, though placement noise differs from Java.
How accurate are the predicted veins?
Veins are predicted from your seed for the edition and version you select. The predicted-locations note applies — match your edition and version for the best accuracy.
Why are some predicted veins missing?
Chunks generated on a different version, or terrain changed after generation, won’t match predictions. Double-check your edition and version.
Does it work on existing worlds?
Yes. Load a saved world or enter its seed. Predictions apply to unexplored chunks; already-generated chunks follow what the game placed.
How do I track mined ores?
Load a saved world or enter your seed, then mark ores as mined as you collect them. Team members can mark them too.
